IV Vitamin Boost
At Rejuvence, we are great believers in alternative medicine. It is essential that any medical condition is assessed thoroughly and conventional approaches to treatment take priority, especially in keeping with NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) Guidelines. However, supplement programs, especially in the form of specially tailored intravenous vitamin boosts can help revitalise and replenish valuable vitamin and mineral stores that are often left depleted through the stresses and strains of life.
Why IV Vitamin therapy?
It has been recognised that normal physiological functioning of the cells of the body is dependent on a wide variety of vitamins and minerals. Often our body levels of these vitamins and minerals are depleted and this can impact the normal functioning of the cells.
For decades oral supplementation with multi-vitamins has been extremely common practice. However, more recently it has been recognised that oral tablets containing specific vitamins and minerals cannot achieve levels of these nutrients that are required by our bodies irrespective of the dose administered. In addition, the combination of vitamins and minerals into a single tablet is often not very effective as the gut and kidneys are extremely good at filtering these out and restricting effective absorption.
It has been found that by administering vitamin and mineral mixtures intravenously in the form of a drip, can result in much higher ‘serum’ (blood) levels and the effects are more dramatic and sustained. IV Vitamin boosts have been found to replenish and rejuvenate body and mind.
Benefits of IV Vitamin Therapy at Rejuvence
Are IV Vitamin Drips an alternative to conventional medical treatment?
It is important to note that IV Vitamin Boost treatments are NOT meant to be a substitute for seeking treatment from your GP and that the priority in the treatment of many common medical conditions is to adhere to NICE guidelines. IV Vitamin Drip therapy comes under the banner of complementary medicine. Although still not fully endorsed by main stream medicine there is increasing amounts of evidence appearing to demonstrate its benefits as an adjunct to mainstream treatments.
Who was John Myers?
The concept of IV Vitamin therapy was first coined by Dr John Myers, a doctor practising in Baltimore, USA. He pioneered IV Vitamin therapy and established a healthy following amongst patients suffering from a variety of conditions including asthma, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and multiple allergies. These patients regularly attended Dr Myers’ clinic to receive IV Vitamin boost treatments. Following Dy Myers’ death in 1984 his work was endorsed and carried forward by many in the US and this has spread across to Europe and the rest of the world.
What is the Myer’s Cocktail?
Dr Myers’ developed a specific cocktail of vitamins and minerals in the form of an IV drip. He varied the concentration of each of the constituents of his drip on the basis of what symptoms he was treating. The Myers’ cocktail consists of a combination of high dose Vitamin C, Magnesium, Calcium and B Vitamins. Myers found his drips were effective in supplementing the effects of conventional medicine especially in the case of asthma, migraines, fatigue, fibromyalgia, acute muscle spasms, common viral infections, sinusitis and even allergic rhinitis.
Vitamin Boost Drips at Rejuvence Clinic
Select Your Drip
What happens when you book an IV Vitamin Boost Appointment?
Depending upon which drip you have selected the Vitamin Boost Drip is made up using our specific and safe protocols. For the majority of drips, treatment is given via a cannula (small tube) normally placed in the forearm. The infusions are timed. Where some of the treatments include medications that cannot be given through a drip they are given as an intramuscular injection. In a few cases not all the components can be mixed together and have to be administered as 2 separate infusions, one after the other.
All of our IV Vitamin Boost Drips at Rejuvence are carefully prepared and dosages always double checked. The initial placement of the cannula can feel a little uncomfortable but we can using numbing cream to ease this. Whilst the infusions are running, you may feel a warm sensation running through your body towards your pelvis. For some this can be quite a pleasant sensation. There should not be any pain at the cannula site. Following treatment we may keep you in clinic for a few minutes just to ensure you are feeling fine with no evidence of feeling faint or light headed.
IV Vitamin Boost Treatments are extremely safe. The main complications associated with IV Vitamin Therapy are allergic reactions and feeling light headed afterwards due to low blood pressure. These complications are rare but due to the nature of this type of treatment it is extremely important to monitor these. At Rejuvence Clinic only a trained doctor and/or nurse administers this treatment and prepares the drips. In addition we always have emergency medication on hand to guard against any unwanted reactions.
There are a few contraindications to IV Vitamin Therapy. It is suitable for both men and women. We only treat adults between the ages of 18 and 75 years. Those suffering with kidney disease, uncompensated cardiac failure, severe hypertension (high blood pressure), general oedema, liver failure, or ascites are not suitable for IV Vitamin Therapy. Concomitant digoxin therapy is also a contraindication. Known allergic reactions to any of the constituents in any of the IV Vitamin Drips is also a contraindication to this treatment.
The benefits of treatment with an IV Vitamin Boost Drip are not always immediate. For those suffering with allergies, chronic pain, asthma and chronic fatigue, the effects of treatment can be immediate. However, this varies from person to person. More commonly effects are seen a few days after treatment.
There is no specific restriction on the number of IV drips that can be administered. The number of treatments required can vary. From past documented experience many practitioners have patients who see immediate benefits that last. At the same time some patients require multiple infusions on a monthly, bi-weekly or even weekly basis before they see benefits that are long lasting. For those who are having maintenance or preventative drips, treatments need to be repeated on a regular basis and sometimes on a seasonal basis. Lifestyle changes are encouraged alongside IV Vitamin Boost Drips in order to address any supplemental deficiencies from diet and/or exercise.
