Mesotherapy – Exosomes & Skin Boosters
Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure that consists of microinjections into the skin. A variety of serums and products can be injected including serums rich in vitamins and antioxidants as well as hyaluronic acid or growth factor concentrates. This direct supply of rejuvenating products into the deeper layers of the skin ensures maximal penetration of the product. Exosomes are our newest arrival and will potentially revolutionise mesotherapy. These treatments aim to improve the superficial appearance of the skin, its texture, restoring tone, elasticity and well-balanced hydration.
What are Exosomes?
Exosomes are a new breakthrough treatment alternative for skin rejuvenation. Exosomes are produced by almost all cells in the body. They are essentially small packets released by cells containing a variety of proteins, growth factors, specific genetic material called RNA and mRNA as well as signalling molecules. These packets have a ‘lipid bilayer’ wall and are extremely small. This means they are easily absorbed by surrounding cells and able to easily deliver their contents. Cells of particular organs produce specific types of exosomes. Exosomes are capable of promoting tissue regeneration, new blood vessel development as well as having anti-inflammatory properties. In the context of skin, they help with rejuvenation and regeneration as well as boosting new collagen formation and aid with tightening of the skin.
Where do exosomes come from?
Exosomes are generally obtained from three main sources. They can be derived from plants, animals or humans. Ideally, the science suggests that the most effective exosomes are likely to be derived from humans and specifically from cells in the placenta umbilical cord. These cells have the greatest ability to remodel into any other cell and hence are likely to produce exosomes that are the most versatile. At present there are a number of groups in South Korea and the United States that have successfully mass produced human derived exosomes from placental umbilical cord cells and are trialling these in a number of medical conditions. However, all human derived products including exosomes are banned in the UK and Europe and hence not available. Plant derived exosomes and animal derived exosome products are available on the market and are approved for use in the UK.
E50 Exosomes Treatment at Rejuvence Clinic
E50™ Exosomes are derived from salmon testes. Salmon testes are known for their purified DNA and are an excellent source for exosomes that are safe for human use. E50 exosomes are specifically engineered to contain growth factors and proteins and able to help your skin in the following ways:
- Enhanced Cellular Communication – exosomes can facilitate communication between skin cells. This promotes cellular function and regeneration through the delivery of specific signalling molecules that can stimulate collagen production, enhance cell turnover and improve the overall health of your skin.
- Anti-aging Effects: Exosomes contain growth factors and antioxidants that can counteract the effects of ageing. E50 Exosomes can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. They can also improve skin elasticity and firmness.
- Maintain a healthy Skin Barrier: Exosomes can strengthen the skin’s natural barrier by promoting the production of essential lipids and proteins. This helps improve the skin’s ability to retain moisture and protect against the environment.
- Anti-inflammatory Effects: Exosomes possess anti-inflammatory molecules that can help calm and soothe irritated skin. This can help with conditions such as acne, rosacea and eczema.
Pigmentation: Exosomes help regulate melanin production and can help correct hyperpigmentation. Exosomes can also promote a more even skin tone and help reduce the appearance of dark spots.
What are skin boosters?
A form of mesotherapy is with ‘Skinboosters’ – injections containing a stabilised form of hyaluronic acid that persists in the skin for longer and is also known as NASHA gel. A set of three sessions of Skinboosters every 30 days followed by a single maintenance session every 6 months can result in long lasting improvement in skin elasticity, tone, turgor and leaves skin glowing. Popular areas treated are the face, back of the hand and décolletage.
How do skin boosters work?
Skinboosters contain NASHA gel – a stabilised form of hyaluronic acid. Ageing leads to a progressive reduction in hyaluronic acid content in skin. Hyaluronic acid is an integral player in maintaining good skin health. It is a complex sugar that modulates the general functioning of skin, stimulates the formation of new collagen and reconstructs skin structure. It maintains balanced hydration and prevents and reduces the formation of lines and wrinkles as well as improve firmness and elasticity. Microinjections of Skinboosters provide the skin with a deep long lasting reservoir of hyaluronic acid.
What is it used to treat?
Skinboosters are used as a form of bio-revitalisation for the skin. It can be used to treat clients with thin face skin and light to moderate signs of photoaging and for the perioral lines and sagging skin in the neck and décolletage. It is suitable for treatment for anyone who is keen to improve the quality of their skin and address the initial early signs of skin sagging as well as established sun damage. It can also be combined with treatments such as wrinkle relaxation injections, dermal fillers and LED phototherapy for improving the quality of skin.
What happens during the treatment at Rejuvence Clinic?
We will conduct a thorough assessment of your skin. We will take photographs prior to treatment as well as carry out a full skin analysis using the Opatra Skin Analysis System. This facial analysis system uses advanced cameras to detect and determine 10 different skin conditions highlighting areas to focus on and improve whilst objectively monitoring progress. A topical local anaesthetic cream is applied to help reduce any discomfort. Skin is cleansed with alcohol and microinjections placed into the deeper layers of the skin. Treatments last between 20 to 60 minutes depending upon the combination of devices and serums used. Treatment sessions are repeated every 4 weeks for 3 months and a maintenance session is recommended every 6 months.
Sylfirm X and Target Cool
For even better results we recommend combining mesotherapy with Sylfirm X Radiofrequency Microneedling. This advanced FDA-approved device combines the power of radiofrequency and microneedling to deliver exceptional results, leaving your skin firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking without any downtime. The micro-punctures created with this device stimulate elastin and collagen production but also allow mesotherapy agents to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin without the need for microinjections. Even better is to combine Target Cool with this. Target Cool is a device able to spray mesotherapy serums and exosomes at high pressure into the skin further improving absorption and results. This completely avoids the pain of injections.
What is NCTF 135 HA?
At Rejuvence we use mesotherapy products from Filorga. Specifically we use NCTF 135 HA. This is well established, proven cocktail of vitamins and supplements that act as vital nourishment for skin cells allowing them to repair and replenish. After treatment of the skin with NCTF there is an increase in the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. These combine together to rejuvenate the face, neck and hands.
Numerous researchers have published papers assessing different products used in Mesotherapy. The technique of Mesotherapy is well established and integral to many treatments. With regards to Skinboosters and specifically the effects of hyaluronic acid injections into the deep dermis of the skin, a recent study, published in May 2015, demonstrated significant improvements in facial skin surface roughness, elasticity and brightness with moderate improvement in moisture and wrinkles amongst 30 women treated with 3 sessions and observed over 6 months. Similar improvements were observed in a study also published in May 2015, for hand rejuvenation.
There are very few side effects noted with this treatment. There can be some discomfort during and after the microinjections. Allergic reactions are few and far between.
You will not be required to take any time off work and should be able to attend upcoming social gatherings.
The effects of Skinboosters are predominantly delayed and noticed around 4 to 6 months. Immediate effects include a slight swelling effect with clearly more toned and hydrated skin. The delayed effects of Skinboosters include improvements in tone and elasticity of skin, prolonged and improved hydration, reduced fine lines and wrinkles and generalised improvements in the appearance of sun damage.
Rejuvence Philosophy
At Rejuvence we believe Mesotherapy and the use of Skinboosters are a fantastic adjunct to any skin rejuvenating program. They are particularly effective in the treatment of sun damage to the decolletage and back of the hands. It is a quick procedure with minimal risks and no downtime.
