What are Lipomas, Cyst, Moles or Skin Tags?
Lipoma
Lipomas are soft, slightly mobile lumps that form just under the skin, most often on the chest, back, shoulders, neck, and face, but they can also appear on the thighs and buttocks. They are usually firm, painless, and harmless, and while they can develop anywhere on the body, they are more common in men, typically between the ages of 40 and 60.
Mole
Moles are dark spots on the skin formed by concentrated melanin, and most adults have between 10 and 40 of them. They may be flat or raised, with their appearance varying across individuals and ethnicities. Moles are more likely to develop on sun-exposed areas such as the face, arms, chest, and back, making these common sites where they are found.
Sebaceous Cyst
Cysts are usually the result of a blocked sebaceous gland which are found in the skin and are responsible for producing an oil based substance produced by sebaceous glands that coat hair and skin. Sometimes the glands can become blocked and result in the formation of cysts. They are often found on hair bearing surfaces such as the face, scalp and back.
Skin Tag & Wart
Skin tags are small, harmless growths that hang from the skin by a narrow stalk. They commonly appear in areas of friction or skin folds, such as the armpits, groin, neck, face, chest, and back.
While not usually a cause for concern, if linked to viruses like HPV they are classed as warts, which are contagious and often best removed.

How are they removed?
Lipoma
Lipomas can either be excised (cut out) or reduced in size using liposuction techniques. At Rejuvence this procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. However, we do have the option of carrying out surgery under sedation. We normally recommend sedation for lipomas that are quite large and for those who are quite nervous about being awake during their treatment.
Sebaceous Cyst
Complete removal of a cyst is a more definitive treatment option. This can be performed under local anaesthetic and aside from the sting of the anaesthetic is essentially a painless procedure. Once completely numb a small cut is made over the top of the cyst and all its contents are drained. The ‘sac’ of the cyst is then freed up from the surrounding tissue and completely excised (cut out). The little cut in the skin is then stitched closed. The cosmetic finish is normally excellent. The rate of recurrence is quite small after complete excision.
Moles
Mole removal depends on the size, location, and whether it’s flat or raised.
Excision (cutting out) is often the best method, giving complete removal in one session with quick healing and minimal chance of recurrence.
Cryotherapy is ideal for small, flat moles, especially on the face and neck. Using the CryoPen, we precisely freeze the mole with nitrous oxide. Treatment is usually painless, though larger or darker moles may need repeat sessions. Target Cool can be used for bigger moles.
Laser removal with an Erb:YAG laser vaporises moles in minutes. It’s effective for benign, premalignant, and malignant lesions, with just 2–3 days of recovery and minimal discomfort.
Skin Tags & Warts
The removal of skin tags can be done by Cryopen.
CryoPen uses cold liquid nitrogen to freeze and remove skin tags. The treated area turns pale, and the tag usually falls off, leaving a small, often unnoticeable scar. Larger tags may need two or three sessions.
Laser treatment with an Erb:YAG laser can also remove skin tags and milia by vaporising them. It’s effective for various benign and pigmented lesions, including melanocytic nevi. The procedure is quick and minimally painful, with just numbing cream required.
