How BBL® HEROic™ Works
BBL works by delivering carefully controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light into the skin. This energy is absorbed by pigment and vascular structures in the skin, converting into gentle heat. BBL™ Corrective is one of the most versatile treatments in our clinic, targeting pigmentation, sun damage, and vascular concerns with pinpoint accuracy. This treatment can dramatically improve the clarity, smoothness, and radiance of your skin.
It works by directing light energy to unwanted melanin (responsible for brown spots) and haemoglobin (responsible for redness). The pigmented or vascular structures absorb the light, are gently heated, and then naturally broken down by your body over the following days and weeks.
This treatment is particularly effective for:
- Age spots, sunspots, and freckles
- Liver spots and other sun-induced pigmentation
- Rosacea and generalised redness

Skin type suitability:
BBL Corrective is most effective for Fitzpatrick skin types I–III. For types IV–V, we adjust energy settings to treat deeper pigmentation cautiously, reducing the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation changes.

This is a three-step process:
- Blue light penetrates deep into pores to kill acne-causing bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes).

Skin type suitability:
Safe for all skin types (I–VI) with personalised protocols. This makes it an excellent option for acne-prone darker skin tones, where many traditional laser treatments can be too aggressive.

Aftercare & Maintenance
Following BBL treatment, we recommend:
- Avoiding direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks
- Daily use of a broad-spectrum SPF 50+
- Avoiding active skincare ingredients (such as retinoids) for 48 hours
